Nutrition professors Martha Stipanuk, Kathleen Rasmussen win national awards

Martha Stipanuk and Kathleen Rasmussen, both professors in the Division of Nutritional Sciences at Cornell, received awards at the American Society for Nutrition's annual meeting this month.
Stipanuk received the Osborne and Mendel Award "for outstanding basic research accomplishments in nutrition for research contributions." The award is sponsored by the North American branch of the International Life Sciences Institute, a nonprofit organization that provides a forum for academic, government and industry scientists to identify important nutrition and food safety issues. Stipanuk's work focuses on the study of amino acid metabolism.
Rasmussen received the Dannon Institute Mentorship Award for outstanding mentorship in the development of successful nutritional science investigators. The Dannon Institute is a nonprofit that promotes research, education and communication about the link between nutrition and good health.
The American Society for Nutrition is a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing together the world's top researchers, clinical nutritionists and industry to advance knowledge and application of nutrition for the sake of humans and animals.
Sheri Hall is assistant director of communications in the College of Human Ecology.
