Cornell Feline Follies slated for Saturday, April 23
The Feline Club at the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine will hold its annual Feline Follies Saturday, April 23, from 1 to 5 p.m. in the atrium of the veterinary college. Feline Follies is a free event open to all types of cats and owners of all ages. Every cat will be a winner at Feline Follies.
There will be 24 competition categories, including longest tail, most colorful coat, loudest meow, oldest, chubbiest and best trick. Videotapes and photographs will be accepted for several competition categories.
Free beverages will be served, and all proceeds from a raffle and a bake sale will be donated to the Tompkins County SPCA and Animal Aid of Cortland. There will be entertainment, activities and many cat-terrific prizes raffled off, including large and small cat trees, soft-sided carriers, window perches and gift certificates.
Also at the event will be cats from the Tompkins County SPCA that are looking for homes. Volunteers from the SPCA will be on hand to interview potential adopters and complete all necessary paperwork so that people can go home with their new cat after the show.
Feline Follies is sponsored by the Iams Co., the Graduate and Professional Student Assembly Finance Commission, the Vet School's Alumni Association and the Feline Club, which is the student chapter of the American Association of Feline Practitioners at the Vet School. Its goal is to present lecture programs and provide educational opportunities for veterinary students interested in feline medicine.
