East Avenue reduced to one lane April 2 to May 24
By Amy Ross
Beginning April 2, East Avenue between Campus and Tower roads will be limited to one lane of northbound traffic only from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. while crews begin work to update campus utility infrastructure and provide upgrades to the streetscape.
The roadway will reopen to two-way traffic May 24 until June 11 to accommodate Commencement and Reunion weekends, but will be closed entirely from the morning of June 11 until Aug. 16.
The parking lot between Day and Stimson halls will close for one week, April 2-8, during the first phase of the project, and again June 11 until Aug. 16 during the second phase. Accessible permit holders will receive a separate message regarding their alternative parking options.
The sidewalk on the west side of the roadway will close, and fencing and signage will direct pedestrians around the work zone.
Beginning April 2, TCAT and out-of-county bus stops will be relocated to Gates Hall for northbound routes, and to Campus Road at Hoy Road for southbound routes. The detour will be in place for the duration of the project. For a list of affected bus routes, visit the TCAT website.
The Campus-to-Campus Sage/Statler Hall stops will be relocated to Uris Hall for departures and arrivals from April 2 until mid-August. An announcement will be made when regular service to the Sage Hall stop resumes. Visit the Campus-to-Campus website for service updates.
