Employee trustee candidate forum and election to be held next week
The candidates running to fill a midterm vacancy as employee-elected trustee will participate in a forum June 4 from noon to 1:30 p.m. in Rhodes-Rawlings Auditorium in Klarman Hall. The event will be livestreamed on CornellCast.
The four candidates vying to serve the remaining two years of the term are Renee Alexander, Laura Kipfer, Jeramy Kruser and Jeremey Yaw. Their full profiles and campaign platforms are online. The winner will serve the remaining two years.
Voting for the employee-elected trustee will start June 5 at 8 a.m. and continue through June 7 at 10 a.m. All staff members eligible to vote will receive email announcements during the voting period with further details and information. Note: The election rules mandate the use of the Hare System for this election, in which voters are asked to rank-order their preferences.
Cornell is one of relatively few institutions in the nation to provide the opportunity for staff to directly elect a representative to its highest governing body. The employee-elected trustee will become a full voting member and participant on the Cornell University Board of Trustees, serving as a crucial bridge between the staff community and those who shape the university’s future.
