Win over Harvard, BBQ highlight Employee Celebration
By Nancy Doolittle
About 2,000 Cornell employees, retirees and their families cheered on the Big Red football team as it rallied in the fourth quarter to top rival Harvard for the second consecutive year, 28-24. The game was one of the featured events of the fall Employee Celebration, Oct. 6.
Participants enjoyed the annual barbeque chicken and pasta, created by Cornell Catering and served in Barton Hall by staff, students, retirees and senior administrators.
Activities for children included spinning a wheel for prizes at the United Way of Tompkins County table, looking through a telescope from the Department of Astronomy, and petting a “woolly bear” caterpillar at the Entomology Naturalist Outreach Program display.
Ashley Pellegrino, from the Division of Human Resources, coordinated the event.
“I’d like to thank everyone behind the scenes who makes this event possible, including Facilities and Campus Services, Building Care and Cornell Catering,” Pellegrino said. “We also want to thank all the volunteers. This event runs smoothly because so many Cornell community members volunteer year after year, bringing their expertise as well as their energy to make this day a success by helping set up tables, serve dinner, clean up afterward, and otherwise welcoming and celebrating those who attend.”
Employee Celebration is sponsored by Human Resources, Facilities and Campus Services, Cornell Catering, Athletics and Physical Education, Utz and PepsiCo.
