Cornell trustees to meet in Ithaca March 11 and 12

The Cornell University Board of Trustees will meet in Ithaca March 11 and 12.

The board will meet from 9 a.m. to 11:45 p.m. and again from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, March 12, in the Trustee Meeting Room of the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art on the Cornell campus. The morning session will be open to the public from 9 to 10 a.m. Topics will include a report from President Hunter Rawlings and an update on the state budget and State University of New York (SUNY) budget discussions, including proposed statutory college tuitions.

The following board committees will have open sessions Thursday, March 11:

  • The Buildings and Properties Committee will meet at 9 a.m. in the Yale-Princeton Room. A brief open session at the start of the meeting will include an update on the status of ongoing projects.
  • The Committee on Academic Affairs and Campus Life will hold a brief open session at the beginning of its meeting from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Statler's Yale-Princeton Room. Topics will include a vote to rename the Biometrics Unit the Department of Biometrics.
  • The Committee on Land Grant and Statutory College Affairs will hold an open meeting from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in the Taylor A/B Room of the Statler Hotel. Topics will include state budget review, preliminary statutory college tuition recommendations and the university's relationship with the State University of New York (SUNY).
  • The Audit Committee will hold a brief open session at the beginning of its 6:30 p.m. meeting in the Statler's Rowe Room. Topics will include proposed changes to the financial statements and a year 2000 progress report.

A limited number of tickets for the open session of the full board will be available starting at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, at the Information and Referral Center in the lobby of Day Hall. No tickets are needed for the open sessions of the committees.
