National Chemistry Week event at Pyramid Mall is Saturday, Nov. 6

Floating bubbles and disposable diapers, both the products of chemistry, will be part of the annual Chemistry Fair, in celebration of National Chemistry Week, at Pyramid Mall in Lansing, Saturday, Nov. 6.

The event, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., is being sponsored by the Cornell-Ithaca section of the American Chemical Society. All booths will be near the Ames entrance to the mall.

Visitors to the Chemistry Fair will be able to take part in hands-on demonstrations by researchers and graduate students from Cornell University and Ithaca College. They promise to demonstrate how chemistry is everywhere around us, in the clothes we wear and in the utensils with which we eat. Demonstrations will show how to find DNA in fish eggs, make parachutes and create wiggle worms.

There will be handouts of free chemistry pencils, puzzles, stickers and periodic tables.
