Ithaca milk-mustache contest winner to compete for place in a national milk advertisement

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Got a milk mustache?

You can enter it in a contest when the Milk Mustache Mobile bellies up to the Cornell Dairy Bar July 26 from 1 to 5 p.m. The Ithaca winner of the milk-mustache contest will compete for a spot in an advertisement to appear in ESPN Magazine.

The Cornell Dairy Bar is located on the corner of Judd Falls and Tower roads on the Cornell University campus.

In addition to participating in the mustache contest, visitors can milk a cow, pet a calf, winT-shirts and posters and receive coupons for Cornell Dairy products. They can tour the Cornell Dairy milk-processing facilities and eat cookies with a chocolate milk chaser. Health experts will be on hand to administer calcium intake tests, screen for osteoporosis and provide tips on how to add more calcium-rich milk into people's daily diets.

"If you've never milked a cow, here's your big chance," says Mary Fraboni, Cornell senior administrative assistant in food science. "A cow from the Cornell Dairy herd will be available for milking. There will also be a calf set up in a special petting area for the young and the young at heart."

In honor of Susan Henry, the new dean of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, the dairy bar also will debut its Dean's Berry Swirl ice cream flavor. The concoction is black raspberry ice cream (the new dean's favorite flavor) with a red raspberry swirl.

Children's organizations, school or camp groups are invited to participate. For more information, call dairy manager Kim Bukowski at (607) 255-5871 or send e-mail krb14@cornell.edu.
