Celebrate Cornell Dairy Bar's annual 'Lighting of the Cows' Dec. 1 with free ice cream and The Hangovers
By Blaine Friedlander
As if the free ice cream was not enough.
Cornell University's famous a capella singing group The Hangovers will serenade holiday revelers at the Cornell Dairy Bar's fifth annual "Lighting of the Cows" Friday, Dec. 1, at 4 p.m.
Susan Henry, dean of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences; Dennis Miller, chair of the food science department; and Kim Bukowski, manager of the Cornell Dairy, will ascend the dairy bar roof to turn on the rooftop display's lights soon after 4 p.m. The Cornell Dairy Bar is located on the corner of Tower and Judd Falls roads, on campus. The rooftop display features wooden likenesses of Cornell dairy cows pulling a milk tanker decorated for the holiday season. It will stay up until after New Year's.
Also at the "Lighting of the Cows," celebrants can indulge in unlimited free samples of the dairy's two top holiday ice cream flavors -- "White Mint Christmas" and "Peppermint Flake." A holiday favorite that made its debut in 1997, "White Mint Christmas" is a white-chocolate ice cream with a fudge swirl, jammed with holiday mint pieces. Peppermint Flake is a pink peppermint ice cream with peppermint candy.
