Cornell's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and School of Industrial and Labor Relations will hold open house for prospective students, Oct. 15
By Heather Orkin
Cornell University will host an open house Saturday, Oct. 15, on campus for prospective students at two of its New York state-supported colleges -- the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) and the School of Industrial and Labor Relations (ILR). Students interested in learning about admission to those colleges are encouraged to attend.
The open house provides high school juniors, seniors and their parents the opportunity to visit CALS and the ILR School, receive an overview of academic programs and meet admissions staff, faculty and current Cornell students. The program also will offer admissions and financial aid information.
Both colleges offer a wide range of programs. In CALS, students can select from 24 majors that include programs such as animal science, applied economics and management, atmospheric science, biological sciences, communication, entomology, food science, international agriculture and rural development, landscape architecture, natural resources and plant sciences.
The ILR School offers programs in personnel and human resource studies, economics and social statistics, labor economics, organizational behavior, international and comparative labor relations, collective bargaining, labor law and labor history. Graduates often go on to careers in management and law, in addition to labor relations.
Those interested in attending the open house are required to pre-register. The deadline for registration is Oct. 7. Students are encouraged to register online at http://www.openhouse.cornell.edu or to obtain registration forms through their high school guidance counselors, CALS or the ILR School. Registration information on the open house is being mailed to guidance departments in all New York state high schools. For further information, call CALS at (607) 255-2036 or the ILR School at (607) 255-2222.
