Cornell's Garden Mosaics Program wins four multimedia awards

Cornell University's Garden Mosaics Program, a science education and community action program promoting intergenerational and multicultural understanding, has earned four international multimedia awards for its interactive Garden Mosaics DVD. The awards include recognition through the INTERCOM International Communications Film and Video Competition, the Chris Awards and the Telly Awards.

At the INTERCOM/Chicago International Film Festival, the DVD won a gold plaque in the educational CD-ROM/DVD category. INTERCOM is an annual competitive event for corporate, industrial and sponsored films, videos and interactive media. This competition honors those corporate and sponsored productions that display ingenuity, creativity and talent.

At the Columbus International Film and Video Festival, also known as the Chris Awards, Garden Mosaics won honorable mention in the interactive DVD category. In addition, the print materials for the DVD (including cover art, informational enclosures, label design and poster) received a certificate of recognition.

At the 2005 Telly Awards, the DVD was a finalist in the interactive media category, receiving a bronze Telly statuette. The Telly Awards receive over 11,000 entries each year from all over the world.

Young people in Garden Mosaics learn from older gardeners about plants and planting practices. Garden Mosaics is funded by the National Science Foundation and private donors.
