Kate Bronfenbrenner gives Toronto lecture on global workplace issues

On March 23, Kate Bronfenbrenner gave the 24th Annual Sefton Memorial Lecture at the University of Toronto's faculty club. A faculty member at Cornell's School of Industrial and Labor Relations, where she is director of Labor Education Research, Bronfenbrenner is an expert on labor organizing issues and the global economy. Her talk was "Global Unions, Global Companies and Cross-Border Campaigns: The Vision, Opportunities and Challenges Raised by the Global Union Conference 2006." Speakers in the annual lecture and award series are selected for their expertise and prominence in labor relations. The series, which began in 1982, is organized and hosted by the Centre for Industrial Relations and Human Resources at the University of Toronto and Woodsworth College and funded by the Valleydene Corp. and the United Steelworkers of America's Toronto Council and District 6.
