Undergraduate researchers at play

More than 100 undergraduates from institutions all over the United States are spending several weeks on campus this summer participating in research mentored by Cornell faculty, graduate students and postdocs in several Cornell departments on topics including materials science, nanotechnology, physics, astronomy and plant science. Most of the programs are funded by the National Science Foundation.

In addition to their projects, which are expected to result in publication, the students attend lectures and minicourses and meet with Cornell graduate school recruiters. But on July 1 they just got together for fun, with a picnic on the Engineering Quad. Click the image to play a slide show by Cornell photographer Lindsay France.
