New Human Resources Web site is easier to use
By Nancy Doolittle
The new Human Resources Web site, now live at http://www.hr.cornell.edu, has been redesigned so different audiences -- from job seekers to employees to supervisors and retirees -- can find information more easily.
For example, the most popular topics -- Jobs at Cornell, Benefits, Policies, and Diversity and Inclusion -- are grouped at the top of the home page, along with the section Your Life at Cornell, which provides information on career and professional development; Cornell's caring community; personal life and well-being programs; volunteering at Cornell; and staff recognition.
Front and center on the home page are a Spotlight section that features topics of current interest, and links to the interactive pages of Employee Essentials and Orientation, which allow faculty and staff members to look up and change such items as their work addresses and some of their benefits, and to review an introduction to Cornell. Also on the home page are links to sections "For Managers," "For Retirees" and to HR-Online, a section for human resource professionals.
"I hope you find this site responsive to your needs, and you visit it often as a way of accessing the benefits, services and opportunities that are yours as a member of the Cornell community," said Betsy Shrier, senior director of human resource operations. "Working in partnership with University Communications, we have tried to make the navigation as streamlined and self-evident as possible."
The streamlining process has changed the site's URLs. The links at the top level will automatically redirect users to the correct sites.
Some of the more popular secondary links are:
- Faculty and Staff Assistance Program: http://www.hr.cornell.edu/life/support/fsap.html
- Career Development: http://www.hr.cornell.edu/life/career/
- Cornell's Caring Community: http://www.hr.cornell.edu/life/caring_community/
- Responding to Harassment, Discrimination and Bias: http://www.hr.cornell.edu/diversity/reporting/
