Semiconductor research group receives industry award
A team of researchers that includes Mike Thompson, associate professor of materials science and engineering, has received the 2009 Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI) award for North America.
The group is being honored for its work on millisecond laser annealing using grazing-angle infrared blaster laser beams. Established in 1979, the SEMI award recognizes significant technological contributions to the semiconductor industry.
SEMI is a global industry association serving the manufacturing supply chains for microelectronic, display and photovoltaic industries. Thompson and the team received the award at Jan. 12 symposium in California.
