Two local projects join Center for Transformative Action

The Center for Transformative Action (CTA) at Cornell has announced two new community project partners -- the Life Writing Project and Veterans Sanctuary.

The Life Writing Project offers workshops on specialized private writing of a personal life story to foster deep self-exploration and discovery, meaningful and compassionate social contribution and joyful consciousness. The next 10-week session of workshops begins Oct. 4. For information, visit http://www.lifewritingproject.org/.

Veterans Sanctuary was established in Ithaca to create and sustain a peer-based residential program to support veterans of wars in Iraq and Afghanistan as they transition from combat duty to civilian life. The project also will cultivate a safe space to help veterans confront issues related to their military experiences and empower them to share the burden of war with civilians. The sanctuary model can eventually be replicated to serve returning veterans in other communities. For information, visit http://veteranssanctuary.blogspot.com/.

CTA is an alliance of individuals and organizations inspired by principles of nonviolence and committed to action for justice, sustainability and peace. It offers educational programs and strategic organizational resources.

The CTA now has 14 project partners working in five focus areas: Media and Information, Just and Inclusive Communities, Simplicity and Sustainability, Local/Global Connections and Transformation Through the Arts.
