Stover to serve as associate editor of new journal

Patrick Stover, a professor in and director of Cornell's Division of Nutritional Sciences, will serve as an associate editor of a new American Society for Nutrition journal called Advances in Nutrition.

The online, peer-reviewed journal responds to the growing demand for a publication that gathers, synthesizes and explains the current state of knowledge in all facets of the nutrition field, says Stover. In addition to explaining the significance of new research findings, these reviews will also highlight research gaps and future directions.

The inaugural issue will debut in November and continue on a bimonthly cycle after launch. An optional print version will also be available.

Stover, with a Ph.D. in biochemistry and molecular biophysics (1990) from the Medical College of Virginia, joined Cornell as an assistant professor of nutritional biochemistry in 1994. He also serves as the director of the United Nations Food and Nutrition Programme for Human and Social Development.

His research focuses on the biochemical, genetic and epigenetic mechanisms that underlie the relationships between the B-vitamin folate and such human pathologies as neural tube defects, cardiovascular disease and cancer.
