Einaudi Center celebrates International Education Week

Begun in 2000 by the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education, International Education Week is being celebrated Nov. 15-19. The Mario Einaudi Center for International Studies and its associated programs, as well as many other groups on campus supporting international education, will mark the week with talks, presentations and activities.

Events include: Young Social Scientists' Sustainability Research Forum organized by the Institute for the Social Sciences and the Cornell Center for a Sustainable Future; and such seminars and lectures as "Indigenous Mexicans in the U.S. and Transnational Identities," "Rethinking Kingship and Legitimacy in Northwestern India: The case of Amber-Jaipur circa 1500--1750," "A Vision Across Time and Space: The Moral Art of Buddhist Historiography in Early Modern Thailand," "Pluralism and the Ecology of Survival: Cases from the Pamir Mountains of Afghanistan," and "Resource Rich and Investment Poor: Missed Opportunities for African Agricultural Growth and Economic Development."

Workshops about maximizing language learning abroad and strategies for finding an international internship will be held for students, and the films "The Invisible Frame," "Rabbit a la Berlin" and "Love in Another Language" receive their Ithaca premiere.
