The Michael Curtis Augustin Memorial Fund will support a minority student interested in geosciences. The fund honors Augustin, an undergraduate in earth and atmospheric sciences who died June 3 at Stanford University Hospital in Palo Alto, Calif, at age 33.

Augustin transferred to Cornell in 2010 from Essex County College in New Jersey and was expected to receive his bachelor's degree in December 2012. He was recognized as a promising undergraduate scholar and was in Palo Alto on a Cornell Biology Research Fellowship at the time of his death.

A memorial service for Augustin will be held on campus in the fall.
