Siobhan King wins social impact fellowship

For her leadership in social finance, Siobhan King '04, MBA '13, has been awarded a national fellowship that will give her hands-on experience in that field.
King was one of four students nationwide to win a RSF Regional Social Impact Fellowship, which is designed to support the development of the next generation of inspiring leaders in the social finance field.For her leadership in social finance, Siobhan King '04, MBA '13, has been awarded a national fellowship that will give her hands-on experience in that field.
The fellowship was awarded by RSF Social Financial. Founded in 1936 as the Rudolf Steiner Foundation, RSF Social Finance is a nonprofit financial services organization that provides capital to nonprofit and for-profit social enterprises addressing issues in the areas of food and agriculture, education and the arts, and ecological stewardship.
As part of her fellowship, King will work with RSF's lending team to identify prospective borrowers, conduct due diligence and structure commercial loans that will become part of RSF's $73 million social enterprise lending portfolio.
King is a student in the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management's Sustainable Global Enterprise Immersion program, which focuses on sustainability and business. She is also fund manager for the BR Venture Fund, Johnson's student-run seed-stage venture capital fund; a member of Johnson's Sustainable Global Enterprise Club, Energy Club and Women's Management Council; and a volunteer assistant coach for the Cornell women's rowing team. King holds a bachelor of science degree in civil and environmental engineering from Cornell and a master of science degree in sustainable energy systems from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland.
Prior to enrolling at Johnson, King was an associate at ICF International, where she provided energy consulting services to programs including the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Energy Star program and Massachusetts' Green Communities Act and Small Renewables Initiative. She is a LEED accredited professional with expertise in green building and is a two-time presenter at the U.S. Green Building Council's Greenbuild International Conference.
