New banners feature Cornell community photos
By Grace DePaull
Twenty-three banners displaying photographs taken by Cornell staff and students have been installed across Cornell’s Ithaca campus, adding a personal touch to the university’s commitment to wellbeing.
The banners are the culmination of Cornell’s Summer Wellbeing Adventure, a three-week initiative this past summer that invited the campus community to explore wellbeing through the themes of people, places and planet. The adventure included a photo contest for participants to document their summer experiences through the lens of wellbeing. This year marked the second annual adventure and expanded its reach by including students in addition to staff, faculty and retirees.
“The wellbeing of our Cornell constituencies is interconnected. It’s important for Cornellians to have opportunities to explore, learn and grow together,” said Michelle Artibee, director of Workforce Wellbeing at Cornell.
The winning photographs depict moments of reflection, connection and exploration – whether on campus, in local communities or while traveling. Each image was selected for its alignment with Cornell’s vision of a Health Promoting Campus, which supports the individual, social and ecological aspects of wellbeing.
The 23 banners showcasing these photos are now displayed across campus and will remain up through the spring.
“It’s inspiring to see our campus community prioritizing their health and wellbeing by documenting their activities and summer adventures,” said Christine Lovely, vice president and chief human resources officer. “More and more employees and students and getting involved in our Health Promoting Campus initiatives, and it makes me proud that Cornell values these efforts. My hope is that even more Cornellians will participate in the Summer Wellbeing Adventure – actively recharging is important for everyone.”
This program is co-sponsored by Cornell Human Resources and Student & Campus Life.
