Cornell's College of Veterinary Medicine and the Southside Community Center are co-sponsoring routine health care clinics for pets owned by persons of limited means, one night a month at the center, 305 S. Plain St.
The boredom and isolation of life in a nursing home, the shortage of mentors for inquisitive children, the need for more greenery in the world -- all can be addressed through intergenerational cooperation, according to a Cornell University horticulturist with a plan to send senior citizens back to school.
Five Ithaca-area human services agencies are benefiting from the philanthropic spirit of Cornell students. EcoVillage, the Displaced Homemakers Center, the Ithaca Youth Bureau, the Greater Ithaca Activities Center and The Partnership are receiving $12,500 in financial support from Cornell Tradition Fellows.
Cornell's fraternity and sorority councils will conduct the 11th annual Collegetown Good Neighbor Day on Saturday, April 27. Activities include cleaning neighborhood sidewalks, streets, utility poles and open spaces.
