The Cornell University Glee Club -- one of the country's oldest singing groups and soon departing for Wales to compete -- will perform at the historic Grace Church, 802 Broadway, in Manhattan, Saturday, June 30, at 8 p.m.

The Glee Club will preview its upcoming competitive performance at the 66th Annual Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod in Wales. The group will compete with other male choirs and, if victorious, will vie for the Pavarotti Prize/Choir of World competition Saturday, July 7.

The group, comprising 60 male singers, will perform a range of pieces, including Scottish folk songs and American spirituals. This Grace Church concert will be the final domestic performance under the direction of Scott Tucker, the Priscilla Edwards Browning Director of Choral Music at Cornell. After 17 years at Cornell, Tucker will succeed Norman Scribner as the artistic director of the Choral Arts Society in Washington, D.C.

Founded in 1868, the Cornell University Glee Club is Cornell's oldest student organization and one of the oldest men's choirs in the United States. The ensemble performs a diverse repertoire, ranging from liturgical settings and folk songs to Renaissance and contemporary music.
